After high school, I went to college at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. I was considering a few other schools including Boston College and Hampton University, which is also in Virginia. Richmond seemed to be the best fit for me and I would have the opportunity to play football there. However, I decided to stop playing football after my freshman year, so I could focus more on my studies, but I did stay on as an equipment manager for two more seasons. During this time, we won the conference championship in 1998.

I graduated from Richmond with a bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2000. I also took and passed the CPA Exam that month, so that I could become a Certified Public Accountant. The first job that I got after college was with the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche (Deloitte) in their audit department in Richmond. I worked at Deloitte for about 18 months, then I accepted a job with a smaller accounting firm named Cherry, Bekaert & Holland (CBH) and moved to Virginia Beach. At CBH, I did the same type of work, just for smaller clients and I got some experience doing corporate tax returns. I worked at CBH for about 2.5 years, during which time I went back to school to my master's degree in business from the University of Phoenix , I studied to become a Certified Fraud Examiner and I published an article on fraud in a local accounting magazine.

I decided to return to Deloitte in November 2004 to gain more experience with a large accounting firm and because the firm could offer me more opportunities for growth. I hope to stay at Deloitte for the next several years, unless a new opportunity comes along.

Aside from work, my girlfriend (Jessica) and I got married in March 2000 after dating for almost six years. We have been married for just over five years, but we do not have any kids, yet. We do hope to begin having children in the next few years, though.
